Why Horses

Horses Evoke Many Emotions

Horses can evoke many responses from a person, all of which are useful in developing awareness. The horse, a beautiful animal that lives in the moment, teaches us how to experience life and reflects or models our behaviors. Through equine connections in Waroona, individuals have the opportunity to learn about building positive relationships.

Horses mirror or model our behavior, providing valuable insights about ourselves. They are completely unbiased, non-judgmental companions. Just the thought of a horse can evoke an emotional response in the human psyche. They can move, touch, and hold us in ways that human practitioners cannot.

Animal-Based Therapy Helps People Learn About Themselves

Animal-based therapy has been successfully used for many years in counseling to help people learn about themselves. Equine-assisted learning, such as that offered by Equine Connections , incorporates the horse as a role model for life, demonstrating how to respond to the environment in the here and now, without clinging to past baggage. The horse encourages individuals to experience a variety of thoughts, feelings, and emotions, many of which we may have become numb or dull to.

How Do We Help People

Amanda Jenks-Whiteman of EQUINE CONNECTIONS in Waroona, WA, utilizes the Equine Psychotherapy Institute of Australia model to assist individuals in becoming aware of their true thoughts, feelings, and beliefs through counselling and equine assisted learning.  This awareness is crucial for living a fulfilling life. As you become more attuned to your inner experiences, you will learn to respond rather than react, enhancing your ability to navigate life and its challenges. The EPI model incorporates elements of Gestalt, Somatic Experiencing, and Mindfulness, facilitating equine assisted learning that helps people uncover their authentic selves. For those seeking equine therapy or an alternative to room based counselling in Perth or the surrounding areas, EQUINE CONNECTIONS in Waroona offers valuable support.

What Do We Offer

Individual Sessions

At Equine Connections in Waroona, we understand that big groups can be overwhelming, especially in equine assisted learning environments. While other equine therapy settings often operate on a larger scale, we aim to maintain a small and intimate atmosphere.

We believe that each child, young person, or adult should have a personalized and independent experience. Our goal is to provide a relaxed, non-judgmental, and safe environment, allowing individuals to step away from the pressures of everyday life.
